Comp cams makes a very nice length checking tool. Use it along with the light weight valve spring.

Web23 de mar. de 2024 · - Set to #1 TDC and adjust #1, move the crank 90 degrees and adjust #8 valves, and so on through the 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 firing order, moving the crank 90 degrees each time. I'm using a Howards retrofit roller cam with 213/217 @ .050 duration, so its not an aggressive cam, but its also quite a bit different design from the original flat tappet cam . You can guess on pushrod length, or buy a pushrod checker (temporary adjustable push rod that you use to determine EXACT) length needed based on geometry) and order accordingly. They are Speed Pro brand, but are basically the same as the Comp Cams and others. I have C-clip pliers to remove the clips. But, the plunger will not come out. The locating pin for the lifter tie bar gets in the way. Hydraulic rollers, IMO, are perfect for an engine that never sees over 5500-5700 and that's what I use them for.
