WebRetexturing DAO is a proper retexture mod, it's just unfinished and its quality and consistency varies greatly. It won't cover the entire game, and it won't everywhere conform to the same visual style either. Theta HD is the only one I'd recommend wholeheartedly. It stays true to the vanilla feel while getting rid of the uglies.

There's DAZIPs, and then there's everything else. DAZIPs have to be installed a particular way - I use the DAO mod manager.
